AceShowbiz - Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming road trip horror film, Passenger. The trailer offers a gripping and unsettling glimpse into the movie’s terrifying storyline, which stars Melissa Leo, Jacob Scipio, and Lou Llobell. This horror thriller centers on a couple desperately trying to escape a demonic stalker after witnessing a driver’s fatal accident on a lonely road.
The trailer opens with a chilling statistic on screen: "Last year over 130 million people took road trips. 15,400 of them were never seen again." The initial scene shows a man pulling his car over at night so the passenger can relieve himself. Suddenly, an eerie car horn blares from the woods, causing the man to hurriedly return to the vehicle—only to discover the driver has mysteriously vanished. Without warning, a body crashes through the windshield, triggering panic and chaos. The man speeds off, but the ominous events only escalate.
As the car races down the road, several shadowy figures appear along the roadside, and a screaming woman suddenly materializes in the passenger seat. The second half of the trailer shifts focus to the couple played by Llobell and Scipio. They discover claw marks scratched into their car’s side and notice similar damage on another vehicle they had seen the previous night. Leo's character ominously warns, "You didn’t stop, did you? It’s something unholy."
The tension intensifies as strange, supernatural occurrences begin to unfold. Scipio's character admits, "Something’s following us," while the couple encounters bizarre voices broadcasting through their car radio and stumbles upon a field filled with bodies covered in white sheets. The trailer culminates in a terrifying scene where Llobell's character is lifted into the air inside a burning church. The final moments feature Leo’s voiceover declaring, "No one outruns the passenger," as an eerie figure drags Llobell away.
Passenger is directed by André Øvredal and adds to a growing slate of horror releases in 2026.
