AceShowbiz - Giggly Squad stars Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner are teaming up to create a new buddy comedy series for Netflix, according to Deadline. The show is described as a “Broad City for Gen Z,” featuring highly fictionalized versions of the duo as they navigate friendship and personal growth.
The series will be produced by Amy Poehler and co-written and showrun by Kay Cannon. It follows the pair as they become the ultimate ride-or-dies, supporting each other in shedding their emotional baggage and evolving into the people they aspire to be. Unlike their pandemic-era reality TV appearances, this scripted version might include some humorous social blunders, potentially involving Megan Thee Stallion.
Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner initially connected before appearing on Bravo’s Summer House, with their friendship solidifying during the show’s pandemic season. They launched the Giggly Squad podcast, named after a playful insult from fellow cast member Kyle Cooke, which has outlasted their time in the Hamptons. The podcast also inspired a national tour and a best-selling book.
Paige DeSorbo notably increased her public profile after her breakup with Bravo’s Southern Charm star Craig Conover. The new Netflix sitcom will add to their expanding careers.
This upcoming Netflix show moves beyond reality TV and podcasts into scripted comedy with a strong creative team behind it.
