AceShowbiz - Melissa Fumero is set to join the CBS procedural series Einstein for its upcoming 2026-27 season, according to Variety. The former Brooklyn Nine-Nine star will play Teri, a detective inspector with the New Jersey state police, who works alongside Matthew Gray Gubler’s character, Lewis Einstein.
Melissa Fumero’s character Teri is described as sharp, disciplined, and demanding—both of herself and her colleagues. She experiences tension and conflict as she partners with Professor Einstein, a brilliant but unconventional figure who is the great-grandson of Albert Einstein.
Einstein revolves around Matthew Gray Gubler’s Lewis Einstein, a tenured professor whose rebellious behavior lands him in trouble with the law. Forced to assist a local detective in solving complex cases, Einstein’s unique skills come into play. The series received a full order from CBS in April 2025 but was delayed by a year before its upcoming launch.
Melissa Fumero is best known for her role as Amy Santiago on the Fox comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which concluded in 2021 after eight seasons. More recently, she starred in NBC’s limited mystery series Grosse Pointe Garden Society. Her television credits also include roles in Blockbuster, Based on a True Story, and the soap opera One Life to Live.
In other casting updates, Betty Gilpin has been cast in a major role for the second season of Ethan Hawke’s FX series The Lowdown. Gilpin will portray a character named Ginger, Deadline reports.
Paramount+’s Tulsa King spin-off Frisco King, starring Samuel L. Jackson, has added four new cast members: Asa Germann (Gen V), Kai Caster (Yellowstone), Lilah Pate (Outer Banks), and Savanna Gann (His & Hers).
Billy Zane is set to recur in the second season of Apple TV+’s golf comedy Stick. No details about his character have been revealed.
Meanwhile, Molly Griggs joins Damon Wayans Jr. in the NBC drama pilot Puzzled, where she will play Quinn Abbott, a tightly wound detective with the Atlanta Police Department.
Lastly, Shiv Pai has been cast in the CBS comedy pilot The Tillbrooks, set in 19th-century England. Pai will portray Henry, the head groundskeeper and a responsible young man who cares deeply for his large family.
