AceShowbiz - Madonna and Julia Garner teamed up for a captivating video filmed along the picturesque canals of Venice, Italy. The clip features the pop legend and the acclaimed actress seated side-by-side in a gondola, as a gondolier navigates the city's famous waterways.
In this brief but striking video, both women are dressed in casual yet stylish outfits, wearing jeans paired with black jackets and holding large straw boater hats. The visual is a clear homage to the original music video for Madonna’s breakthrough hit, "Like a Virgin," which was directed by Mary Lambert and also filmed on a Venetian gondola. The caption accompanying their clip reads, “Like a Virgin....... again and again,” followed by an Italian flag emoji, underscoring the nostalgic tribute.
This unexpected reunion sparked curiosity among fans and industry watchers, especially since Madonna recently hinted at a new acting project. Last week, she shared an Instagram Story showing herself reading a script while aboard a glass-top boat, captioned "The Italian Job."
At the time of the video’s release, no official statement had been made regarding its purpose or what it might be promoting. Representatives for Madonna had not responded to Billboard’s request for further details.
However, reports indicate that both Madonna and Julia Garner were spotted in Venice the previous week filming scenes for the upcoming second season of the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ series The Studio. The show already boasts a star-studded ensemble including co-creator Seth Rogen, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Kathryn Hahn, and Bryan Cranston, with Madonna and Julia Garner joining the cast.
This project represents Madonna's first live-action acting role since her 2002 film Swept Away and a guest appearance on Will & Grace in 2003. Meanwhile, Julia Garner is gaining attention for her role as Madonna in a biopic about the pop icon that has experienced delays and uncertainties since its announcement in 2020.
The biopic, which remains untitled and currently on hold, was reported to have been shelved in late 2022 but was teased as back in development by Madonna in January 2023. Julia Garner fueled speculation further in September 2025 when she confirmed in an interview with W Magazine that she was still planning to portray the Queen of Pop.
