AceShowbiz - Madonna has been spotted in Venice as she prepares for a role in the upcoming season of The Studio, the Apple TV+ comedy series co-created by Seth Rogen. This marks the pop icon’s first live-action acting role in over 20 years.
The show centers on Matt Remick (Rogen), the newly appointed head of a struggling film production company who attempts to revive the business while pursuing his own artistic vision. The first season featured a cast including Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Kathryn Hahn, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine O’Hara.
Although details about Madonna’s role remain under wraps, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed she will appear in the second season. A recent Instagram Story from Madonna showed her reading a script on a glass-topped boat in Venice, with a heart emoji obscuring the text and the caption “The Italian job.”
This opportunity represents Madonna’s first significant live-action part since her 2002 film Swept Away, where she starred alongside Adriano Giannini. Her last TV cameo was in 2003 on the series Will & Grace.
That biopic project initially cast Julia Garner, a guest star on The Studio, to portray the Queen of Pop. However, production was paused in 2023 as Madonna focused on her Celebration Tour. The retrospective tour spanned 81 stops and concluded with a free show on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.
Following the tour’s conclusion in 2024, Madonna hinted at resuming work on the biopic.
While production on the second season of The Studio has commenced, no official premiere date has been announced yet.
