AceShowbiz - The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival will showcase the world premiere of Kenny Loggins: Conviction of the Heart, a documentary directed by Tony-winning Broadway producer Dori Berinstein.

The film explores the life and career of Kenny Loggins, who rose to fame as one half of the 1970s duo Loggins and Messina before becoming a celebrated songwriter for iconic Hollywood soundtracks such as Top Gun and Footloose. This documentary will have its debut in the festival's Special Presentations category.

Kenny Loggins also earned Grammy Awards in 1980 for co-writing the Doobie Brothers hit "What a Fool Believes" with Michael McDonald, and again in 1981 for "This Is It." Prior to Hot Docs, Berinstein’s documentary received a preview screening at the Newport Folk Festival in July 2025.

Running from April 23 to May 3, Hot Docs will also premiere Mark Myers’ The Tower That Built a City, a film about Toronto’s iconic CN Tower and its surrounding skyline. The festival will feature Canadian premieres of works by Oscar nominees such as Sam Green’s The Oldest Person in the World and Sara Dosa’s Time and Water (also known as Fire of Love).

Additional Canadian premieres include Maya Annik Bedward’s Black Zombie, which is also set to premiere at SXSW, Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazi?’s To Hold A Mountain, winner of Sundance’s World Cinema Grand Jury Prize for documentary, Sam Dunn’s The Ballad of Judas Priest, and Poh Si Teng’s American Doctor.

The full lineup for the 2026 Hot Docs festival will be announced on March 24, offering audiences a diverse array of documentary storytelling from around the world.
