AceShowbiz - The Bell Jar is set to be adapted into a film featuring Billie Eilish in her first major acting role. The project is directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Sarah Polley, who is also writing the screenplay based on Sylvia Plath’s 1963 novel.
Focus Features has secured distribution rights for the movie, which is produced by Plan B Entertainment and StudioCanal. Joy Gorman Wettels is producing the film. Gorman Wettels initially developed the project through her company, Joy Coalition.
The story of The Bell Jar centers on Esther Greenwood, a college student navigating her mental health while working at a magazine.
