AceShowbiz - Aaron Pierre is set to reprise his role as John Stewart in the upcoming DC Studios film Man of Tomorrow, following his debut in the HBO series Lanterns.

Aaron Pierre, known for his work in Rebel Ridge and Mufasa: The Lion King, will join a star-studded cast including David Corenswet as Kal-El/Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Lars Eidinger as Brainiac in the highly anticipated Superman sequel.

The story introduces audiences first to John Stewart, a Green Lantern in training, through the HBO drama Lanterns, which is scheduled to premiere this August. The series draws inspiration from the Green Lantern Corps, an interstellar law enforcement group protecting various sectors of the universe.

The hallmark of a Lantern is their power ring, which grants the wearer incredible abilities powered by will. These powers include flight and the creation of energy constructs such as force fields, weapons, and armor. In the series, veteran Lantern Hal Jordan, portrayed by Kyle Chandler, mentors John Stewart, who is only two months into his training and has yet to wield the ring himself.

Together, they investigate a murder in the American Heartland, an event with far-reaching consequences for the broader DC universe. The recently released trailer for Lanterns also features Garret Dillahunt as William Macon, a modern-day cowboy, and Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe, who may become a romantic interest for John.

Adding to the intrigue, Ulrich Thomsen will appear as Sinestro, a notorious Green Lantern villain, while Nathan Fillion returns as Guy Gardner, another member of the Corps and a character he previously portrayed in the Superman universe.

Meanwhile, Man of Tomorrow is scheduled for theatrical release on July 9, 2027. The film is written and directed by DC Studios co-head James Gunn, who also directed the original Superman movie. The sequel promises an unusual alliance between Superman and his longtime foe Lex Luthor, as they face a formidable cosmic threat: Brainiac, a highly intelligent and dangerous entity.

James Gunn emphasized the importance of Lex Luthor in the storyline, describing the film as "as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie." He praised working with Nicholas Hoult and expressed enthusiasm for the dynamic between Superman and Luthor, highlighting his passion for the script in an interview with Howard Stern last September.

With Aaron Pierre reprising his role as John Stewart in both the HBO series and the upcoming film, fans can expect to see his character's journey expand significantly across the DC universe in the coming years.
