AceShowbiz - Suno CEO and co-founder Mikey Shulman announced significant milestones for his AI music company, sharing that Suno has reached 2 million paid subscribers and $300 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).
This subscriber count doubles the 1 million users reported in November, as per Suno's investor pitch deck obtained by Billboard. That deck highlighted a 300% year-over-year subscriber growth and indicated that about 25% of subscribers continue their membership after 30 days. Suno also reported strong engagement with a weekly retention rate of 78% among subscribers and 39% retention across all users.
Mikey Shulman shared on X, "We launched Suno 2 years ago to let the world feel the joy of making music. Since then, over 100M people all over the world have used Suno, from music lovers to Grammy winners. We reached a new milestone: 2M paid subscribers, $300M ARR."
He further explained the company’s vision: "We are building the entertainment platform of the future. Endless scrolling and passive consumption have flattened culture and reduced people's taste to a homogeneous, lowest common denominator. People yearn for more, and the future of consumer entertainment is creative. Suno lets everyone actively participate in music culture creation, bringing to life the music that's inside millions of people. The future is creative entertainment."
At the close of his message, Mikey Shulman invited those passionate about the intersection of technology and art to join Suno’s team, noting that the company is hiring.
C.C. Gong, a principal at Menlo Ventures and lead investor in Suno’s recent $250 million Series C funding round, echoed the sentiment on X. She praised Suno not just for simplifying music generation but for transforming how people engage with music. She said, "Creation improves consumption.... I've personally shifted most of my listening to Suno. I was so tired of Spotify giving me the same overplayed recommendations...[Suno's technology represents] a fundamental shift, treating music as a catalog to music as a canvas."
This announcement follows a dynamic period in the AI music space. Last week, AI remixing app Hook raised $10 million in a Series A round. Google also debuted its latest AI music model, Lyria 3, capable of generating up to 30-second tracks within its Gemini platform. On February 23, Suno revealed the hiring of Jeremy Sirota, former CEO of Merlin, as its new Chief Commercial Officer.
However, Suno’s rapid rise has not been without controversy. On February 24, several artist rights groups released an open letter titled "Say No to Suno," criticizing the company’s approach to training data and content downloads. That same day, Google announced it had acquired AI music startup ProducerAI, signaling increasing competition in the sector.
With its growing subscriber base, substantial ARR, and new leadership appointments, Suno appears poised to continue shaping the future of AI-driven music creation and consumption.
