Arrowverse began with Oliver Queen, but his ending was a huge letdown. Unpack the CW DC universe's triumphs, flaws, and the path to its cancellation.

AceShowbiz - The Arrowverse opened up with Oliver Queen's mission to avenge his city and drive out corruption, but his ultimate ending was a major disappointment. The CW did a great job of adapting DC Comics stories and characters, creating one of the most successful and expansive shared universes on TV. However, it wasn't perfect, with some shows feeling out of place or having tired and underdeveloped story arcs. The crossovers, while exciting, often disrupted the flow of each individual show and hero due to the colossal events that occurred mid-season.
As DC Studios set its sights on rebooting their efforts in a more unified way, all the DC shows were unfortunate casualties of cancellation. But the ending for Oliver Queen, the character who kicked everything off, has to be the most disappointing of them all. Prior to Arrow's debut in 2012, Oliver Queen wasn't among the most recognizable or favorable heroes. However, Arrow successfully elevated Oliver Queen to become one of the most recognizable heroes for modern audiences.
Oliver Queen deserved a better sendoff in the Arrowverse. During the Crisis on Infinite Earth's story arc, Oliver Queen was responsible for saving the multiverse. After experiencing incredible hardships, and already being killed and landing in Purgatory, Oliver Queen returned as the Spectre, an almost all-powerful being who was able to defeat the Anti-Monitor, and sacrifice himself to create a new multiverse where his friends and loved ones would be able to survive and thrive long after his death. But despite becoming the hero of the story, and giving his life to preserve the Arrowverse that he helped to create, this ending ultimately felt ill-considered, and it made for an awkward and disappointing end to the story of Oliver Queen.
Oliver Queen's story should have ended in Arrow, not during a crossover. The Arrowverse failed to provide a satisfying conclusion to Oliver Queen's journey, leaving fans with a sense of disappointment and discontent. The Crisis on Infinite Earth's story arc, while epic in scope, felt like an awkward way to end Oliver Queen's story, and it didn't provide the closure that fans were hoping for. Ultimately, the Arrowverse failed to do justice to Oliver Queen's legacy, and his ending will always be remembered as a disappointment.
