AceShowbiz - Hollywood's most iconic dining rooms are experiencing a renaissance of sorts, with Musso & Frank earning a name drop in Taylor Swift's song "Elizabeth Taylor." This newfound fame has brought attention to the rich history of these legendary hangouts, which have been in business for decades and even centuries. Musso & Frank has been a staple in Hollywood since 1919, starring in countless films and television shows.
Another Hollywood hotspot, The Smoke House, has been the scene for studio execs to hash out deals over martinis and famous garlic cheese toast for 76 years. Its proximity to the Warner Bros. Studio lot has been its greatest virtue, and it recently gained more fame for its appearance in Seth Rogen's The Studio. George Clooney even named his production company after The Smoke House.
Yamashiro, a Golden Age Japanese restaurant, has watched over the Hollywood Hills for over 100 years and is now expanding to Miami. The new Yamashiro location, situated on the rooftop of the Gale Hotel, pays homage to its West Coast counterpart with a lush Japanese garden setting. The expansion also includes the reinvention of the 400 Club, a private club for Hollywood's elite that is part of Yamashiro's storied past.
Craig's, a West Hollywood staple, is making its debut in Nashville on November 12. The new location features a mural by street artist Retna, his first in Music City. Located in the Gulch, Craig's is expected to become a hangout for the city's music industry glitterati, who can enjoy the restaurant's signature dishes and drinks in its leather booths or at one of its two bars.
These legendary hangouts have turned decades and even centuries in business into more than 15 minutes of fame, with Musso & Frank, The Smoke House, Yamashiro, and Craig's all experiencing a modern revival. Whether it's through name drops in songs or appearances in films and TV shows, these iconic dining rooms continue to be a part of Hollywood's rich history and culture.
