AceShowbiz - In a recent episode of Investigation Discovery's docuseries "Hollywood Demons," Taylor Armstrong, 53, detailed the severe abuse she suffered at the hands of her late husband, Russell Armstrong.
The tell-all episode sheds light on the nightmarish experiences she endured, including near-drowning, violent threats, and a horrific assault that resulted in a fractured orbital floor.
One horrific incident occurred at a friend's house where, after overhearing a conversation about a couple trying to help Taylor get out of the abusive relationship, Russell became violently aggressive.
Taylor recounted, "He threw me in the pool. He grabbed the man, knocked all of his teeth out, and he jumped in the pool, and he was trying to hold me under the water. I thought he was going to drown me."
Adding to the torment, the former star of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" revealed a shocking moment when her ex-husband grabbed her by the throat and threatened her life over a seemingly trivial matter.
"Once [Russell's sons from a previous relationship] were visiting us and I made them a pizza," the Bravo star recounted. "He came into the house, grabbed me by the throat and put me against the wall. He said, 'If you ever serve my kids a pizza without a vegetable again, I'll kill you.' "
Ultimately, it was an incident on her 40th birthday that drove Taylor to seek a divorce. After returning from a trip to Las Vegas, Russell accused her of infidelity and violently assaulted her, fracturing her orbital floor.
Despite undergoing reconstructive surgery, Taylor had to pretend that her injuries were accidental in front of her daughter, Kennedy. However, her decision became firm, and she filed for divorce in July 2011.
Tragically, Russell Armstrong took his life a month later. "There was a myriad of things that he was very concerned about, but I never thought that he would kill himself," Taylor divulged. "Suicide never crossed my mind."
This devastating event left Taylor grappling with the aftermath while continuing to protect and raise her daughter.
Reflecting on her past, Taylor shared, "It is so complicated and statistically most domestic violence victims return seven times before they find the courage to leave." She stressed the influence of her traumatic childhood and the financial control Russell exerted as additional barriers to leaving.
Today, Taylor Armstrong has found some semblance of peace. She remarried John Bluher, a successful lawyer, in 2014. By courageously recounting her experiences, Taylor hopes to shed light on the complexities of domestic abuse and encourage those in similar situations to seek help and find their own strength.
