AceShowbiz - Bradley Cooper is back behind the camera for his new film "Is This Thing On?" Unfortunately, this project, starring Laura Dern, Will Arnett, and Cooper himself, has become a source of frustration for residents in the leafy neighborhood of Douglaston, Queens.
The movie, which has been filming primarily at night, has generated complaints from locals due to the noise and disruption it has caused. "Loud generators running until 1 a.m. and 2 a.m." and "multiple vans allegedly blocking roads and driveways" are some of the grievances aired by residents.
One local told Page Six that the noise is "all day and night." The filming, which is scheduled to take place in Douglaston for two weeks, previously shot in Midtown Manhattan and Forest Hills.
Although Douglaston is a popular filming location, with movies like "Rabbit Hole," "American Gangster," and "Little Children" having been shot there, residents claim that the crew for "Is This Thing On?" has been particularly disrespectful.
"I've never seen anything like this. Roads are blocked off. No one asked if they could put cables on my driveway!" exclaimed a local.
Moreover, the continuous activity and noise have also distressed local pets. "This little guy is a barker, and these people are driving him nuts… 80 people running and screaming all day," shared one resident, referring to their dog.
The crew has even hindered residents from walking their pets. "This lady stops me and [says], 'Can you wait?' No! I've had it with you," another exasperated local recounted.
Despite these frustrations, some residents found positive moments amidst the chaos. One local described Laura Dern as "very sweet," noting her courteous demeanor. However, not even Dern's kindness could quell the local dog's incessant barking.
The plot of "Is This Thing On?" remains largely undisclosed, though Cooper has mentioned his "small role" in the film. "I play a guy who's an understudy actor and he's understudying a play called 'The 13 Disciples,' and he's understudying all of them. So that's what this is about," Cooper revealed on ESPN's "Pat McAfee Show."
He further elaborated that his character is simply "Arnett's best friend". Interestingly, while the production has been quite noticeable, neither Cooper nor Arnett have been spotted in Douglaston.
Despite the disruptions, the team behind "Is This Thing On?" remains tight-lipped about any further details, with no comments from representatives for Cooper or the film.
