AceShowbiz - Wendy Williams broke her silence after passing cognitive test wih flying colors. The former talk-show host has recently taken to public platforms to assert her mental competence following a high-stakes psychological capacity test at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
Police facilitated her hospital visit for evaluation after overseeing her exit from an assisted living facility where she was being held.
Williams' guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has alleged that Williams suffers from frontotemporal dementia, leading to cognitive impairment and legal incapacitation since 2022.
During an interview on "The Breakfast Club," Williams and Ginalisa Monterroso from Connect Care Advisory Group discussed the hospital evaluation. Wendy clarified she didn't drop a "help" note from her room window, but directly called the cops for help.
TMZ reported that once at Lenox Hill Hospital, a psychiatrist determined that her mental capacity was intact, supporting Williams' assertions that she is of sound mind.
Williams proudly shared that she scored a "10 out of 10" on the mental capacity test, which consisted of questions assessing awareness and orientation, such as identifying her date of birth and the current president.
Monterroso confirmed that these results would be forwarded to the judge overseeing Williams' ongoing guardianship case.
The test Williams underwent, likely the Abbreviated Mental Test Score, measures cognitive function and is often used to identify potential dementia. A score of six or below indicates serious cognitive issues; therefore, Williams' perfect score stands in stark contrast to the claims made by her guardian.
Williams has repeatedly contested her dementia diagnosis. Her legal guardian's narrative painted a picture of a woman severely affected by dementia, but Williams feels she is being unfairly held and compared her current living situation to a prison.
The results from this test could bolster Wendy’s efforts to challenge her conservatorship. Not long ago, Williams signed an affidavit to terminate the guardianship and is now reportedly seeking the legal services of Joe Tacopina, known for high-profile cases, to aid her legal fight.
Despite the recent upheaval, Wendy has continued to engage with the public, drawing massive support and attention to her plight. For now, the results of her capacity test may mark a turning point in her battle for independence.
