AceShowbiz - On Sunday, February 16, Aubrey Plaza appeared on "Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special". The actress wore a tie-dye shirt under a black blazer and pants, a nod to her late husband Jeff Baena who passed away tragically earlier this year.
Back in 2021 after her secret wedding to Baena, the "Parks and Recreation" actress told Drew Barrymore that the couple ditched a traditional dress and tux for their nuptials. "Jeff got really into tie-dyeing during the quarantine," she dished on. "So, I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pajamas that he had made for us."
This was Plaza's first return to the show since her hosting debut two years ago and her first public appearance since her filmmaker husband was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home on January 3. His death was later ruled as suicide by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner.
The grieving actress has since stepped away from social media, including deactivating her Instagram account. At the time of her husband's death, Plaza expressed her grief in a statement, "This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time."
During the special, Plaza introduced the musical performance of Miley Cyrus. Joined by Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard and The Roots, Cyrus delivered a powerful rendition of Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U," honoring yet another star that's gone too soon.
