AceShowbiz - Despite being a nepo baby with a smoother path to Hollywood, Maya Hawke, the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, has experienced her fair share of uncomfortable encounters within the film industry.

Recently, on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Hawke revealed an insulting suggestion she received from a producer regarding her appearance on camera.

"A director told me - actually, I think it was a producer, but they were in cahoots - told me that I looked prettier with my mouth closed and that I should close my mouth after I speak more often," she opened up.

Hawke admitted to being a "mouth-breather," but emphasized that it was crucial to expressing a character's personality. "I was playing a character that was distinctly unselfconscious," she explained.

"That was a trait of the character, that they didn't care about looking pretty and they were unselfconscious, and so it was clearly just a desire of the aesthetic of the thing, and I was annoyed about it," she added.

Meanwhile, in a previous interview, she acknowledged the unfair advantages she has because of her family connections but expressed her determination to succeed on her own terms.

Maya Hawke is currently working on two upcoming projects, "Wilder & Me" and "Revolver." She will also reprise her role as Robin Buckley in the fifth and final season of "Stranger Things," set to release on Netflix later this year.
