AceShowbiz - At the recent Grammy Awards ceremony, Beyonce Knowles won the Best Country Album award for her "Cowboy Carter" album. This triumph, however, sparked a viral reaction on social media due to the lukewarm reaction displayed by country music star and fellow nominee Kacey Musgraves.
As Beyonce's victory was announced, cameras panned to Musgraves, who was captured clapping with a tepid smile on her face. This image prompted rumors that she's upset for losing the award to Queen Bey.
"Is Kacey Musgraves mad that Beyoncé won? She sure looks it," wrote one fan on social media. Others echoed similar sentiments, expressing belief that Musgraves was not impressed by Beyonce's win.
It's not a secret that Beyonce's country album, despite its huge success on multiple charts, was shunned by country music community, evidenced by her snub from Country Music Association Awards. Kelsea Ballerini, however, recently defended Beyonce.
"To me, you don't have to be a country artist to make a country record," she argued. "Those don't have to exist in the same plane. I'm a country artist, but I've done pop songs. That's okay. So why isn't it okay the other way around? That doesn't make sense."
Besides beating Musgraves, Beyonce who also won the top prize, Album of the Year, triumphed over Chris Stapleton, Post Malone, and Lainey Wilson in the country category.
