The singer avoided injury after a transformer sparked over her head, setting a fan's coat on fire while the star was signing autographs before a TV appearance in Hollywood.

AceShowbiz - Katy Perry narrowly escaped a potentially dangerous situation on Wednesday, January 29 while signing autographs outside the El Capitan Entertainment Center in Hollywood before making appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!".

As the pop star approached a group of fans and interacted with them, a transformer above her head suddenly exploded, sending sparks flying in her direction. Perry looked freaked out but managed to swiftly turned away, narrowly avoiding being hit by the sparks.

TMZ reports that a female member of Perry's fanbase accidentally grazed her elbow against the transformer, causing a surge of electricity. The woman's coat briefly caught fire, but she was able to extinguish it.

In the footage that made its round on the internet, the singer was seen ducking down low to avoid the disaster. No serious injuries were reported.

Despite the terrifying incident, Perry maintained her composure and continued her night without mentioning the explosion when sitting down with Jimmy Kimmel. Instead, she seized the opportunity to announce her upcoming 76-date "The Lifetimes Tour," which kicks off on April 23 in Mexico City.

Reflecting on her last tour in 2017, Perry highlighted how this tour will be different now that she's a mother to a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom. "I'm going to start these shows at 8:30 cause I now understand that bedtime takes over an hour-and-a-half. I'm going to be considering all mothers around the world and fathers too," she stated.

Perry also showcased her signature wit backstage by posing dramatically on a toilet throne and shared the tongue-in-cheek pictures on Instagram. She later returned to signing autographs shortly after, though she did so from the safety of her car.

Before kicking off her jaunt, Perry will join Billie Eilish, Jelly Roll, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Wonder, and Sting on Thursday night, January 30 at the FireAidLA benefit concert, which will support victims of the recent Los Angeles wildfires.
