AceShowbiz - The iconic "Dexter" universe is expanding, and it's bringing some heavyweight talent along for the ride. Uma Thurman has been cast as a series regular opposite Michael C. Hall in the new Showtime original series "Dexter: Resurrection."
Best known for her roles in "Kill Bill" and "Pulp Fiction," Thurman will be playing Charley, the meticulous and resourceful head of security for the mysterious billionaire Leon Prater.
Charley, a former Special Ops officer with extensive experience in high-level private security, is the right-hand woman to Prater, embodying skills that promise to bring an intriguing dimension to the show. This role will be particularly engaging for fans who enjoy complex, multidimensional characters.
"Dexter: Resurrection" is a follow-up to "Dexter: New Blood," bridging the narrative between "Dexter: Original Sin" and the previous installments of the franchise. Michael C. Hall returns not only as the titular Dexter Morgan, a forensic expert with a dark side, but also as the series narrator.
The cast also includes familiar faces such as David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, James Remar as Dexter's father Harry Morgan, and Jack Alcott as Dexter's son Harrison Morgan. The series continues the rich tapestry of character arcs and plot lines that have captivated audiences since the original "Dexte" series aired from 2006 to 2013.
Production for "Dexter: Resurrection" began earlier this month in New York and is set to premiere this summer on Paramount+ with Showtime. The series is executive produced by Emmy nominee Clyde Phillips, who helmed the original series' first four seasons, as well as the spinoffs, and will act as showrunner for this new series as well.
Hall joins the executive production team along with Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Marcos Siega and Monica Raymund are also on board as directors.
From its debut, "Dexter: Original Sin" has been breaking records, becoming Showtime's most streamed premiere with over 2.1 million global cross-platform viewers. With a devoted fanbase and elevated hype, "Dexter: Resurrection" is poised to continue this impressive legacy.
As the narrative dives deeper into Dexter Morgan's life and legacy, "Dexter: Resurrection" promises a compelling blend of innovation and the dark, suspenseful storytelling that "Dexter" fans have come to love. With Uma Thurman adding star power and depth to the cast, this new chapter in the "Dexter" saga is not to be missed.
