AceShowbiz - "Saturday Night Live" alum Taran Killam has decided to give up on his role in the off-Broadway production of "Urinetown" after losing his Pacific Palisades home in the devastating Los Angeles fires.
On January 17, Killam, who was previously announced to play the role of Lockstock, was confirmed to step away from the stage show. He "has been impacted by the devastating fires in Los Angeles and is no longer able to participate in the production."
Greg Hildreth will replace Killam in the role of Officer Lockstock in the Encores! production, which also stars Jenni Barber, Josh Breckenridge, Yeman Brown, Kevin Cahoon, Christopher Fitzgerald, Pearl Scarlett Gold, Jeff Hiller, Tiffany Mann, Daniel Quadrino, Graham Rowat, Myra Lucretia Taylor, Rainn Wilson, and John Yi.
Killam, 42, had previously expressed his excitement about joining the production. In a December 2024 Instagram post, he captioned a photo of himself and other cast members, "This'll be cool."
The production is scheduled to run from February 5 through February 16.
Killam's exit comes a week after he and his wife, former "How I Met Your Mother" star Cobie Smulders, lost their home to the Palisades Fire. The fire destroyed the 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom residence, which the couple had purchased in 2017 and spent over a year modernizing.
Despite their loss, Smulders and Killam remain proactive in sharing resources for other victims of the fires. Smulders has posted donation and family resource links to organizations like Save the Children and Project Camp LA, which provide support to children and families affected by the wildfires.
The Palisades Fire remains active and is at 39% containment as of Friday night, January 17, 2025. Other famous Palisades residents who lost their homes include Billy Crystal, John Goodman, and Eugene Levy.
