Actor DeRon Horton, known for his role in Netflix's 'Dear White People', has revealed that he landed in hospital after being shot and injured in the days leading up to Christmas holiday.

AceShowbiz - DeRon Horton, the star of "Dear White People", recently revealed a harrowing experience on Instagram - he had been shot just days before Christmas. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he shared a series of images from his hospital stay and pictures of his injured arm.

Opening with a message of gratitude, Horton wrote, "First off. I wanna give an honor to God for covering me and protecting me to make it out this situation and countless other ones. Everybody that checked on me n holla'd at me specially my family n friends I love yall, Thank you (sic)."

Horton recounted the terrifying incident, "Gettin shot a few days before Xmas def wasn't on my wish list, but it happened (sic)." He explained that a shooter fired through his car, breaking and shattering his arm. Despite the severity of his injuries, he wrote, "But I'm Blessed dawg to not be in a casket or paralyzed Lord thank you."

The actor shared that he is now out of the hospital and undergoing a recovery process that includes a plate and screws in his arm. "I can't workout for a minute which I'm mad about BUT it coulda been worse (sic)!" he shared.

"And I don't need no sympathy I'm finna bounce right back I feel amazing. I just wanted to remind yall and myself to Keep God first! Stay Alert n Grateful for Everything. the devil can't stop s*** when you walk w God (sic)," he posted.

His colleagues and friends showed an outpouring of support in the comments. "Dear White People" costars Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins and Logan Browning were happy for Horton's safety. Browning commented, "Dear God, thank you for protecting my special Deron ❤️🩹."

Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson, Horton's co-star on Apple TV+ series "The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey", wrote, "Glad you're still with us, Tuff Stuff!!! Good thing you're covered by the All mighty. Hoping you heal quickly & painlessly as possible. Stay Blessed."

Besides playing Lionel Higgins in all four seasons of "Dear White People]", DeRon Horton appeared in the 2019 edition of "American Horror Story", starred opposite Denzel Washington" in legal drama "Roman J. Israel, Esq.", and played Lou Carter on the series "American Vandal".

Horton explained how working with industry titans like Washington had impacted his career. Reflecting on his experience with Washington, Horton told The Hollywood Reporter, "I feel like he's somewhat changed my life, saved my life." He fondly remembered conversations about Shakespeare, God, and love, describing their interaction as a humbling experience.
