AceShowbiz - Teddi Mellencamp, former star of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," shared her ongoing battle with anxiety, shedding light on her mental health struggles to connect with others facing similar challenges.
On January 6, the 43-year-old took to Instagram to describe waking up at 3 A.M. with "raging anxiety." Emphasizing that her post wasn't for pity, Mellencamp listed common symptoms of anxiety, such as "trouble concentrating or making decisions," "feeling irritable, tense or restless," "having heart palpitations," and "trouble sleeping."
Mellencamp outlined her seven-step approach to manage anxiety, which includes meditation, creating gratitude lists, working out, cold plunges, hugging loved ones, getting fresh air, and setting boundaries. "We are ok and we will get over this hump," she assured her followers.
Her openness about anxiety isn't new. Mellencamp has referenced her struggle with anxiety during her battle with melanoma, revealing how staying active and maintaining a positive mindset helps her cope. "The world still turns no matter what, so getting out there and moving my body, releasing my emotions, fixing my mindset - that's the key," she shared previously.
Adding to her emotional burden is her ongoing divorce from Edwin Arroyave following a 13-year marriage. Mellencamp filed for divorce on November 1, citing irreconcilable differences, and the couple has since been navigating co-parenting arrangements for their three children.
Amid these proceedings, allegations surfaced of Mellencamp engaging in an affair with her horse trainer, Simon Schroder, who has just been slapped with divorce papers by his own wife.
Despite these challenges, Mellencamp remains committed to finding peace and happiness. Recently, she revealed that she has been living part-time with longtime friend Kyle Richards, utilizing Richards' home as a base while co-parenting with Arroyave.
The ex-couple has adopted a "nesting" approach to ensure their children experience stability, keeping the family home as the central hub while parents rotate in and out.
Reflecting on her circumstances without specifically mentioning her divorce or alleged affair, Mellencamp advised her followers, "The only person who can change your life is you. We all deserve peace and happiness."
As she continues to navigate this complex chapter, her transparency offers a relatable narrative for many grappling with anxiety and personal upheaval.
