AceShowbiz - Denise Richards is never afraid of challenges, but her experience on season 3 of "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test" has taken her endurance to a whole new level. The 53-year-old actress and reality TV star revealed that she ruptured both of her implants while competing on the demanding Fox series.
"I jumped off a bridge, too - and that's when I ruptured my implants - off of that thing," Richards disclosed during an interview alongside her husband Aaron Phypers on SiriusXM's "Jeff Lewis Live".
Richards explained that the harness she wore for the jump caused the implants to rupture, and despite her plans to have them redone, filming commitments have delayed the procedure.
Unfortunately, her insurance won't cover the costs, leaving the actress to foot the bill. "I have to pay," she stated. "I think we pretty much signed our life away doing that show... It's dangerous."
The Fox series, set in Wales, challenges celebrity recruits with rigorous tasks including high-pressure hostage rescues, treacherous ladder crossings above the sea, boat dunk drills, and surf immersions that test their limits and survival instincts.
Despite her lack of athleticism, Richards decided to persevere through even the most harrowing moments. "I thought, 'This is the most challenging thing I'll ever do, and why not do it?' " she shared, noting that the experience was a test against herself rather than her fellow contestants.
While Richards confronted the ultimate physical and mental challenges, her three daughters - Sami, 20, Lola, 19, and Eloise, 13 - were not supportive of her decision. "They did not want me to do it. They were afraid I was going to get hurt or get killed, and they were actually really angry," Richards told People. Despite their concerns, she forged ahead, motivated by the personal growth the experience promised.
Set to premiere on January 8 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, the upcoming season of "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test" will showcase Richards alongside other celebrities including Trista Sutter, Stephen Baldwin, Brody Jenner, Christy Carlson Romano, and Cam Newton. This season promises to deliver intense drama and unprecedented challenges, making it a must-watch for fans of extreme competition.
Both inspiring and harrowing, Denise Richards's experience on "Special Forces" underscores the extremes to which one might go to push personal boundaries and overcome fear. For Richards, it's not about competing against others, but about confronting and conquering her own limits.
