AceShowbiz - Reality TV star Lindsay Hubbard has found herself in the spotlight, not just for her role on Bravo's "Summer House", but for her decision to monetize the announcement of her pregnancy. While some fans were quick to criticize, Hubbard stands firm in her choice, explaining the financial rationale behind her partnership with Clearblue pregnancy tests.
During her appearance on Jason Tartick's "Trading Secrets" podcast on December 23, Hubbard, 38, addressed the mixed reactions she received. "People were very torn up about this," she said, referring to the backlash. "They were like, 'I can't believe she monetized her pregnancy announcement.' And it's like, why not? I'm gonna make the announcement anyway, why not make money from it?"
Hubbard disclosed that she had used Clearblue's digital test back in April when she found out about her pregnancy. Seeing a natural synergy, she approached the brand and secured a sponsorship deal, making it her biggest brand collaboration to date.
"I used Clearblue, I used the digital test - that was the test I used back in April when I found out I was pregnant. So why not go to them and say, 'Hey, I used your test, I'm about to announce my pregnancy, do you want to sponsor this?' " she explained.
The monetary benefits were significant. Hubbard, who transitioned from a PR career to being a full-time social media influencer, revealed that she surpassed $100,000 in social media income for the year, earning more than $28,000 from the Clearblue promotion alone.
"This is how I make my money. I'm not doing PR anymore, I'm not sitting behind a desk," she emphasized on the podcast. Tartick pointed out that the earnings from the announcement ultimately benefit her child, stating, "The money she made off the announcement itself was ‘for the child' anyway."
Furthermore, Hubbard shared the intimate and joyous journey of bringing her daughter, Gemma Britt Kufe, into the world earlier in December. She continued to capitalize on her social media presence, sharing authentic moments and brand collaborations, right from her hospital bed with Jimmy Johns. "You have nooo idea how long I've been waiting to eat a good sandwich," she had cheekily captioned on Instagram, referencing a viral quote from the show.
Through it all, Hubbard has remained resilient against online critics. A supportive post from a fan aptly summarizes her stance, "Lindsay would have to make a pregnancy announcement at some point, so why not cash in? What was she supposed to do? Say no, to keep the bitter internet hags happy?"
As Hubbard continues to navigate her new chapter as a mother while remaining a prominent figure on social media, one thing is clear: she's not slowing down and isn't apologizing for her entrepreneurial spirit. After all, as she prepares for the arrival of Season 9 of "Summer House", it appears that Lindsay Hubbard is here to make the most of every opportunity - critics be damned.
