According to TMZ , OG Maco suffered a seemingly self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and entered surgery. Los Angeles police claimed that a firearm was recovered from the crime scene.

Speaking to the news outlet, OG Maco's manager Poppa Percccc shared that the trap rap pioneer is still alive. While he didn't offer more details about the musician's condition, he asked fans to send their prayers for the "U Guessed It" rapper.

Prior to this, OG Maco opened up about struggling with depression. He additionally revealed in a 2019 interview with Complex that he had been suffering from necrotising fasciitis, a flesh eating disease.

"I was scared, I didn't know what was going to happen," he admitted at the time. "I didn't know if I was going to lose my entire face… Almost did."

OG Maco added that he had suicidal thoughts on more than one occasion. "I wanted to die a bunch of days," the rapper recalled. "Everybody I really thought would be here, who I really thought I could depend on, weren't there."
