AceShowbiz - Bonnie Wright, known for her role as Ginny Weasley in the beloved "Harry Potter" films, dished on making an appearance on the upcoming television adaptation of J.K. Rowling's iconic novels. In a new interview, the actress appeared to suggest that there's only a little possibility of her cameo.
"I think that would be confusing if we did, to be honest," the 33-year-old star told Us Weekly. “I mean, if they did maybe another story, but I think to be back at the same time as Ginny that would be - we might have some meta moments there, you know?"
She continued, "All of us only looked after those roles for 10 years of our lives, and I'm excited for what’s next for that character. There's a million ways to interpret all the characters. So I'm excited."
Prior to this, Wright shared that she had high hopes for the forthcoming series. Speaking to PEOPLE at the Back to Hogwarts Celebration in New York City, Wright expressed her desire for the series to explore more of the wizarding world she knows and loves.
"My biggest hope as a fan of the books is that they're able to just include more of the world that we know and love," she said. "With TV shows, you've got hours unlike movies."
Wright believes that the expanded format of a TV series will allow the showrunners to delve into aspects of the books that were omitted from the films. "I'm hoping as a fan that I get to see some of the bits in the books that just didn't make the cut for our films because they had to be shorter," she shared.
As for whether she would be interested in reprising her role as Ginny, Wright remained open to the possibility. "Never say never, never say no," she said. "I would be [open], I'm ready."
In addition to her excitement for the new series, Wright also shared her hopes for the future of the Harry Potter franchise. "All the characters, you can interpret them a billion different ways, so I'm excited to see how they're interpreted," she added.
Despite not currently being involved in the HBO series, Wright remains a supporter of the Harry Potter legacy. She recently made a surprise appearance at the first-ever Back to Hogwarts Celebration in New York City, where fans gathered to commemorate the departure of the Hogwarts Express.
"Being able to come back to the magical Harry Potter world and be back together with the greatest fans has been an absolute treat," Wright said in a press release. "What I love about Back to Hogwarts is witnessing the shared love that this community has for Harry Potter!"
The upcoming Harry Potter TV series, which was announced in April 2023, is set to feature a new cast and explore untold stories from the wizarding world. The series marks the latest chapter in the Harry Potter franchise, which has captivated generations of fans with its enchanting characters and unforgettable adventures.
