'The Batman' star Robert Pattinson acknowledged his habit of telling false stories in interviews, shedding light on his motivations and the nature of his shocking tales.

AceShowbiz - Robert Pattinson, considered one of Hollywood's enigmatic actors, has recently come forward to address his history of lying in interviews. During a profile published by The New York Times, Pattinson recalled some of the most notorious fabrications he's told over the years, including a memorable story about witnessing a clown die in a car explosion as a child.

This particular tale gained infamy during a 2011 interview on "Today" show, where Pattinson, while promoting "Water for Elephants", casually described the fictional incident to Matt Lauer, leaving the host shocked and unable to respond other than diverting the topic.

Pattinson reflected on re-watching the clip, saying, "There was absolutely no hesitation at all [in my voice]. I'm like, 'What on earth? Are you possessed?' "

He admitted that these stories were often created out of boredom with the repetitive nature of press tours. "The only thing people would ever ask me about was being famous. You go into, like, a fugue state," Pattinson explained.

In a previous sit-down with fellow actor Willem Dafoe, Pattinson confessed he got "a certain high from it." He explained, "There's a little gremlin inside of me that thinks, 'Just say something shocking. You're only here for a few minutes, say something terrible.' There's a kind of perverse glee I get from that… I've given my publicist a number of heart attacks."

Beyond the clown car story, Pattinson has spun several other tall tales over the years. Some of the most notable include claiming to have worked as a hand model for women's fashion, selling fake drugs made of sawdust during his school days, and taking a stalker out to dinner to such an extent that she got bored of him.

Pattinson's recent reflections on his fabrications come as he prepares for the release of his upcoming film, "Mickey 17", a sci-fi dark comedy directed by Bong Joon Ho ("Parasite", "Snowpiercer"), set to premiere in April 2025. This follows his notable performance as the caped crusader in 2022's "The Batman", with a sequel scheduled for production soon.

Despite his notorious fabrications, Pattinson's career continues to be highly selective and prolific.

Moving past the fibbing phase, Pattinson is set to appear in "The Batman Part II", slated for release in 2026, and to reunite with Christopher Nolan in his upcoming movie starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya Coleman, and Anne Hathaway.

He has recently finished filming projects like "The Drama" with Zendaya and "Die, My Love" with Jennifer Lawrence. Off-screen, he welcomed a daughter with his partner, Suki Waterhouse.

Pattinson's journey from telling whimsical lies to embracing more authenticity reflects his growing comfort within the pressures of celebrity - an evolution that both fans and critics continue to watch with keen interest.
