A South Carolina mother has filed a lawsuit against the doll company for mistakenly printing a link to a pornographic website on the packaging of 'Wicked' dolls.

AceShowbiz - Mattel faces legal action stemming from a packaging error on its "Wicked" dolls. Holly Ricketson, a South Carolina resident, alleges that after purchasing a doll for her minor daughter, the child visited an adult website through the provided link.

Shocked by the explicit content displayed, both Ricketson and her daughter experienced emotional distress. The complaint filed in Los Angeles federal court accuses Mattel of unjust enrichment, negligence, and various warranty breaches.

According to the suit, Mattel's intent was to direct customers to the official 'WickedMovie.com' website. However, a similarly named website for adult content was inadvertently linked instead. The dolls were recommended for children aged 4 and up.

Despite acknowledging the error and recalling the dolls in November, Ricketson claims Mattel has not offered refunds to affected consumers. The lawsuit seeks at least $5 million in damages for anyone in the United States who purchased 'Wicked' dolls with the incorrect link.

Mattel has yet to comment on the pending litigation. However, it has previously expressed regret for the mistake.

The incident has raised concerns about the responsibility of corporations to safeguard children in product marketing. Ricketson's attorney emphasized the importance of ensuring that all aspects of products intended for young audiences are free from harmful risks.

Based on the hit Broadway musical, "Wicked" is a retelling of "The Wizard of Oz" from the perspectives of Elphaba and Glinda. The film adaptation has grossed over $365 million worldwide since its November release.
