Despite their differences and past conflicts, Malik described Payne as a "brother" and acknowledged the support he had provided during difficult times. "Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can't help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives," Malik wrote.

He went on to reveal that Payne had always been a positive force in his life, offering reassurance and support when he was struggling. "Even though we butted heads because of this a few times, I always secretly respected you for it," Malik wrote.

Malik acknowledged that Payne had always been more mature and sensible than him, and that his strong opinions and willingness to speak his mind had always earned his respect.

In his tribute, Malik also expressed his regret for not having the opportunity to thank Payne for his support during some of the most difficult times of his life. "I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life," Malik wrote.
