AceShowbiz - In his theatrical debut, rapper Jeezy (Young Jeezy) will star in the upcoming film "Trap City," which hits theaters nationwide on December 13. Written, directed, and produced by Tel K. Ganesan, "Trap City" follows the story of Deshawn (Brandon T. Jackson), an aspiring musician facing challenges in the music industry while trying to escape a life of violence. Jeezy portrays Reverend Lylee, alongside a cast that includes Clifton Powell, Erica Pinkett, Omar Gooding, Yogi Babu, GV Prakash Kumar, Nepoleon Duraisamy and Tarina Patel.

In addition to his on-screen role, Jeezy will also serve as executive producer on the film's original soundtrack, which releases on the same day as the movie. The soundtrack features contributions from Jeezy ("Heavy"), Lil Reese ("Just Vibin" and "Clocks") and Jackson himself.

According to Jeezy, "'Trap City' sheds light on the realities of fame, power, and the sacrifices we make to overcome adversity. This film is a powerful narrative that I know will resonate with audiences."

Ganesan describes the film as "a mirror to society's allure of fame and power, reflecting the intricate tapestry of contemporary life and the impact of power on the human spirit."

Jeezy's move into acting comes a year after his departure from Def Jam, where he spent nearly two decades. Since then, he has released the independent double album "I Might Forgive... But I Don't Forget" and featured on JT's hit "Okay" remix.
