AceShowbiz - In her upcoming memoir, "Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative", Keke Palmer recalls a shocking incident on the set of Ryan Murphy's horror comedy "Scream Queens", where a white co-star made a racially insensitive comment towards her. Skyler Samuels has since praised Palmer for her courage in speaking out about the experience.
In a recent Instagram post, Samuels wrote, "I am incredibly proud of Keke for speaking out about her experiences on Scream Queens. That's what Keke does, she speaks up and stands up, for herself and others." She added, "Scream Queens was a very challenging show for me. Keke was one of the only people who stood up for me, even though she knew it might make her a target of bullies on set."
Palmer's memoir details her encounter with "Brenda," an unnamed white co-star who told her, "Keke, literally, just don't. Who do you think you are? Martin f**king Luther King?" after Palmer attempted to calm down an argument on set. Palmer, however, refused to be burdened by the comment, stating, "It was such a weighted thing that she said, but I didn't allow that weight to be projected on me, because I know who I am."
Samuels also criticized Ryan Murphy's treatment of Palmer. According to Palmer's memoir, Murphy reprimanded her for scheduling another obligation on her day off, calling her unprofessional and saying, "I've never seen you behave like this before." Samuels praised Palmer for handling the situation with grace, adding, "I have unending gratitude for the professionalism and kindness Keke showed me. She is a leading lady in this industry, who is well aware of her influence, and she uses it for the better."
The "Scream Queens" cast, which also included Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Billie Lourd and Lea Michele, has maintained a close bond despite the show's cancellation. Samuels revealed that she had recently reconnected with Lourd, who shared valuable advice about motherhood.
Palmer's memoir "Master of Me" hits shelves on November 19.
