AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift's fans couldn't help but joke about the singer's absence from the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards. In a prerecorded acceptance speech, Swift expressed her sadness at being unable to attend the ceremony, saying she was busy with her Eras Tour.
However, due to time difference between two continents, the ceremony, held on Sunday night, November 10 in U.K., actually aired in the afternoon when Swift was spotted watching her boyfriend Travis Kelce's Chiefs defeat the Denver Broncos.
Swift's fans took to social media to express their amusement, with one jokingly posting a photo of Swift arriving at the stadium with her mother with the caption, " 'I'm so sad I can't be with you tonight' THIS LIAR." Another quipped, "Calling in sick at work does not work when you're TAYLOR SWIFT."
Despite her absence, Taylor Swift won four awards at the ceremony, including Best Video.
The Grammy winner is currently taking a brief break from her successful Eras Tour, which will resume in Toronto on Thursday, November 14.
When she's not on the road, she's often spotted cheering on her boyfriend. The couple has been dating since 2023, and sources close to them say that Swift feels a sense of protection and safety with the football star.
