AceShowbiz - Ahead of the season finale of "The Penguin", Max has unveiled a sizzle reel for the upcoming "Peacemaker" season 2, which will premiere sometime in late 2025. The footage provides a glimpse into the return of the "11th Street Kids" gang: Christopher Smith (John Cena), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), John Economos (Steve Agee), Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) and Adrian Chase / Vigilante (Freddie Stroma).
The reel also offers a first look at Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), the father of the late Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) from "The Suicide Squad. Grillo will first voice Rick Flag Sr. in the animated series "Creature Commando" before appearing in Superman (set for a July 2025 release) and "Peacemaker" season 2.
Despite the four-year wait between seasons, Cena expressed confidence in the upcoming installment, citing the positive reception and demand from fans. He also acknowledged the shift in DC's leadership, which, according to James Gunn and Peter Safran, necessitated time to ensure the quality of the new season.
The "Peacemaker" portion of the trailer starts around the 1:18 mark. Other footage includes Peacemaker out of costume, Emilia Harcourt facing off in a biker bar, and the team toasting with beers.
In addition to Grillo, joining the cast for season 2 are Sol Rodriguez as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows as ARGUS Agent Langston Fleury, and David Denman in an undisclosed role. Greg Mottola and Peter Sollett will direct several episodes of the season.
The video also teases a new season of "The White Lotus", which will transport viewers to Thailand in its third season. The footage shares the first look at BLACKPINK's Lisa's cameo's in the series. Meanwhile, "It: Welcome to Derry" reunites much of the creative team from the Warner Bros. double-feature and heralds the return of Bill Skarsgard's spine-chilling demonic clown. The cast is expanded with talents such as Rudy Mancuso, Taylour Paige and Jovan Adepo.
Furthermore, fans can look forward to new seasons of "The Last of Us", "...And Just Like That", "Bookie", "Hacks", "The Gilded Age", "The Rehearsal", and "Conan O'Brien Must Go". The ramping up of HBO and Max's output comes after a relatively light 2024, as production on many shows was delayed due to last year's writers' and actors' strikes.
Exciting new series set to debut include Max originals "Duster", a 1970s thriller by J.J. Abrams, and "The Pitt", a modern-day medical drama. HBO's slated premieres feature "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", a prequel to "Game of Thrones", the half-hour comedy "The Chair Company" by Tim Robinson, and the limited series "Task" starring Mark Ruffalo. The untitled comedy project featuring Rachel Sennott promises to capture audiences with its depiction of a co-dependent friend group, similar to the dynamic seen in Lena Dunham's "Girls". Documentary enthusiasts will also have plenty to look forward to with upcoming docuseries "Celtics City" and "Pee-Wee, As Himself".
