AceShowbiz - Lana Del Rey is not letting a wild theory ruin her friendship with Taylor Swift. The Grammy-nominated artist has defended the pop superstar and close friend against allegations that Swift stole Del Rey's style for "The Tortured Poets Department".
An apparent fan of the "Video Games" hitmaker posed the question after Del Rey delayed the release of her own album "Lasso". The Instagram user speculated that the newlywed had energy block due to the release of Swift's latest album "TTPD", which dropped on April 19.
"I wonder if taylor is the reason for Lana's energetic block...," the fan wrote on the photo-sharing platform. They went on reasoning, "After ttpd released (an album that mocked and ripped off not only Lana's style, but also her life stories and traumas) Lana posted TWO tarot cards- the TOWER card and the DEVIL card.. make of that what you will... I think it all goes back to that cursed snow song!"
However, Del Rey quickly shut down the speculation. Catching wind of the comment, she set things straight as replying to the fan with a cryptic statement, "No, just so many people entering the kingdom of the country... it was a strange moment."
Del Rey announced at Billboard's pre-Grammy event in January that her next album "Lasso" would be out in September. It will be her first country album, with her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff and Luke Laird as producers.
In August, the 39-year-old confirmed in an interview with Vogue magazine that she would be releasing "two more [singles] by the end of the year." She also stated that the sound of the album will not be a "heavy departure" from her previous albums, but would still be a "classic country, American, or Southern Gothic production." However, the album has not been released until now.
Del Rey and Swift are known to have a close relationship. Both of them have frequently collaborated with Antonoff. Del Rey was also featured on Swift's song "Snow on the Beach" off the latter's tenth studio album "Midnights" (2022).
It was recently said that Swift, her boyfriend Travis Kelce and Antonoff were among guests at Del Rey's wedding to Jeremy Dufrene on September 26. A source told DeuxMoi that the "Red" singer and her NFL star beau "did attend" the intimate nuptials in Des Allemandes, Louisiana.
