Corgan's wife, Chloe Mendel, shared the harrowing details on Instagram, disclosing that their 8-year-old son, Augustus Juppiter Corgan, narrowly avoided injury by leaping out of the car's path.

"This afternoon at Madame Zuzu's, a car (in circumstances which remain under investigation) drove over the curb and into Madame Zuzu's, crashing through the window and sadly injuring one person - my mother, Jenny; who was spending the day and lunching with my son Augustus," Mendel wrote. "Thankfully, he was able to leap out of the way and was not injured."

Corgan, famously known as the frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins, also shared the news on his Instagram account. While Corgan did not provide specific details about his mother-in-law's condition, it was confirmed that two people, including the driver, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The local authorities in Highland Park commented on the incident, noting that preliminary investigations suggest it was accidental. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, providing swift assistance. Corgan and Mendel expressed their gratitude towards the first responders for their efficient support.

Following the accident, Madame Zuzu's announced it would remain closed until further notice. However, Mendel later updated her followers, revealing that her mother was home and recovering well, and the shop would soon reopen.

Having tied the knot in September 2023 after getting engaged in September 2022, Corgan and Mendel have been together since 2012. They share two children, Augustus and 5-year-old Philomena Clementine.
