AceShowbiz - Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan, known for his remarkable comeback with "Everything Everywhere All at Once", is ready to continue his action-hero streak in "Fairytale in New York". Directed by Jalmari Helander, this Lionsgate action thriller is already building anticipation with its captivating premise and stellar team. Here's everything you need to know about this exciting new project.
Renowned for his versatility and action chops, Ke Huy Quan has closed a deal to headline "Fairytale in New York". The film is directed by Jalmari Helander, the mastermind behind the gritty action hit "Sisu". Set on Christmas Eve in bustling New York City, the story centers around an unassuming cab driver, played by Quan, who embarks on an intense pursuit to retrieve his child's priceless Christmas gift after a run-in with a gang of criminals. Written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, the plot promises a blend of family emotions and relentless action.
Beau Flynn, known for producing blockbuster spectacles like "Red Notice" and "Jungle Cruise", will produce the film through his FlynnPictureCo. banner. Scott Sheldon will join as an executive producer, with Shelby Thomas overseeing the project for FlynnPictureCo. James Myers will oversee for Lionsgate, with Dan Freedman negotiating the deals for the studio.
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, expressed his enthusiasm, "As soon as we watched 'Sisu', we knew Jalmari was a filmmaker we wanted to be in business with again. 'Fairytale in New York' is a wildly entertaining, thrill ride of an action film and an emotionally resonant story about family. And every once in a while, an actor hits their prime, Ke Huy Quan is having that moment right now and his deep experience crafting action in front of and behind the camera as well as his exceptional likability make him the perfect actor for this project."
On the heels of his Oscar win for "Everything Everywhere All at Once", Quan has been on a hot streak. His projects include the action comedy "Love Hurts", set for a Valentine's Day 2025 release, and a role in the Russo brothers' "The Electric State" slated for March on Netflix. He also made appearances in Disney+'s "American Born Chinese" and the critically acclaimed second season of "Loki", which earned him a Critics' Choice Award nomination.
