AceShowbiz - Ari Lennox, a long-time affiliate of Dreamville Records, has voiced her discontent with the label, citing mishandling of her career. In a series of Instagram posts and a nearly 20-minute live video, Lennox accused Dreamville and its parent label, Interscope, of failing to prioritize her career, neglecting her marketing, and attempting to manipulate her.
Lennox stated that she had been portrayed as the "face of mental health" against her wishes and that she had explicitly asked her label not to release the video for her song "Smoke," which was set in a mental institution. However, she claims that her request was ignored. She accused the label of trying to "manipulate" her into changing her mind.
"I'm so tired of people treating me like they're sorry for me and like I'm the face of mental health," Lennox wrote. "I'm ok and I've never been happier."
Lennox went on to say that she was frustrated with the lack of support and accountability from her label. She alleged that she had been paying for her own advertisements and had been begging for adequate promotion.
"I just wish I had a label that cared, that would want to protect me," she said. "I wish I had a label that wouldn't have me out here trying to explain why I need advertisement for my record."
In her live video, Lennox expressed her exhaustion and frustration. "I'm so exhausted... I'm p#####. This was my final straw," she said.
Lennox's rant has garnered support from fellow musician T-Pain, who urged her to reach out to discuss transitioning to independence.
It remains to be seen how Dreamville and Interscope will respond to Lennox's public outburst. The singer concluded her Instagram post with a bold request, "I want out of my contract."
