AceShowbiz - During season 30 of "[t=Dancing with the Stars", which took place amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, fitness coach Cody Rigsby and his partner, Cheryl Burke, faced immense stress. However, Rigsby's biggest concern stemmed from one particular moment during the semifinals.
In a recent episode of Burke's podcast, "Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans", Rigsby shared a tense incident that occurred during their Argentine tango performance. "I was holding that pose and shaking like a tree," he recalled. "And then I went like an eight count early."
Burke jokingly remarked that her pupils "turned black" upon seeing Rigsby's misstep. Despite the blunder, the pair managed to recover and make it through the semifinals.
Beyond the pressure of the competition and the constant threat of COVID, Rigsby admitted that he felt doomed that night. He had missed a pass during their salsa dance earlier in the evening, which weighed heavily on his mind.
Burke further explained that she was going through a challenging time in her personal life, which contributed to her attitude on the show. "I was in a different time at that moment," she said. "I don't know if it was also the longevity that I experienced on the show, but it was different." She added that she was undergoing a separation at the time.
Rigsby expressed his compassion for Burke's situation, acknowledging the toll that multiple seasons of the demanding competition can take on a person. Burke apologized for her behavior, saying, "I wish that things were different. It sucks to think that if you would have danced with somebody else, you might have had a better experience."
Despite their difficulties, Burke praised Rigsby for his resilience and for detailing their experience in his book, "XOXO, Cody". She credited the show with giving her a voice and helping her to grow as an individual.
Cheryl Burke and Cody Rigsby's journey on 'Dancing with the Stars' was a complex one, marked by both stress and growth. Through it all, they forged a bond that ultimately led to Burke's apology and Rigsby's acceptance of it.
