AceShowbiz - Nearly one year after the tragic passing of Matthew Perry, his younger sister, Caitlin Morrison, and his stepfather, Keith Morrison, have opened up about their grief and the ways they are preserving his legacy.
Caitlin, 43, now serves as the executive director of the Matthew Perry Foundation of Canada, which was established to help individuals battling addiction. She described the work she does as bringing her a profound sense of connection to her brother. "I feel like I'm sitting right next to Matthew, working with him every day on something that was important to him," she said.
Keith, 77, echoed Caitlin's sentiments, stating that Matthew would have been proud of the efforts being made in his name. "He would like to be remembered for doing something to help people suffering from addiction," Keith remarked.
The family has been deeply affected by the sudden loss of Matthew, who was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home in October 2023. His death was attributed to the acute effects of ketamine. "Anybody who has lost a child will tell you that, even if you are in some way prepared for the possibility, it's shattering," Keith said of the devastating loss.
Despite the pain, the family has resolved to continue Matthew's mission of helping others. Caitlin recalled the magnetic presence of her brother, saying, "He had this ability to fill up a room with light. When people were in a room with [Matthew], there was this magnetic energy. Everybody just had a smile on their face and they clung to everything that he said."
