AceShowbiz - Despite their strong chemistry, Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore, known for their roles as the beloved couple Jack and Rebecca Pearson in NBC's hit drama series "This Is Us," still had a heated moment that resulted in a rare instance of swearing on set. The show ran from 2016 to 2022 and followed the ups and downs of the Pearson family, but it was a single heated scene that revealed the depth of their dedication to their roles.
In a revealing episode of the "This Was Us" podcast, Ventimiglia, 47, candidly discussed how they both got so caught up in the heat of an argument between their characters that they ended up swearing at each other. "So I'll just start by saying, of course, Mandy Moore is one of the kindest human beings. She is who you all see her to be. Lovely, kind, beautiful, wonderful. Mandy Moore has never been cursed at in her life," Ventimiglia shared.
Moore, 40, jokingly confirmed his statement, laughing, "Yeah, no one's said 'f*** you' to me." Ventimiglia elaborated, "In the middle of a take, things were kind of going in a direction. I think I, as Jack, was feeling it. I was a little defensive. I think you might have dropped an F-bomb, then at one point in this back and forth, at the very end of this chasing around, I was just like, 'F*** you!' "
The intensity of the moment did not stop there. Ventimiglia recalled, "And I kind of had started to look away, but Mandy had literally [put her] her finger under my chin and pulled my face back. … You said, 'Look me in the f***ing face!' " Moore admitted, "It got hot. It got a little heated... Listen, sometimes you just have to go there."
Although this powerful scene ended up on the cutting room floor due to NBC's strict swearing guidelines, Ventimiglia reflected on it fondly, describing the take as "incredible" and mentioning that he still has the uncut footage saved.
Despite the intensity of such moments, Moore and Ventimiglia always maintained a strong friendship off-screen. Their on-screen chemistry was undeniable and highly praised by fans and critics alike, making Jack and Rebecca one of TV's most memorable couples.
Moore previously expressed her deep connection with Ventimiglia, stating, "It was effortless from the beginning, and it was effortless through the end. I acknowledge that I will never, ever have an on-screen partner like Milo again."
In real life, both actors are happily married to other people. Ventimiglia tied the knot with Jarah Mariano last year while Moore has been married to Taylor Goldsmith since 2018, with whom she shares three children. Ventimiglia has been vocal about his admiration for Moore's parenting skills, reinforcing their bond as lifelong friends who will always support each other.
This unique story from behind the scenes of "This Is Us" not only highlights the actors' commitment to their craft but also their deep mutual respect and enduring friendship, traits that have undoubtedly contributed to their on-screen magic.
