AceShowbiz - Travis Kelce is stepping into a new role as the host of Prime Video's "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?", a spin-off of the popular series "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" In the show, contestants face off against a panel of celebrities, including guest stars Natasha Leggero and Ron Funches.
Funches revealed that the show couldn't resist cracking some jokes about Taylor Swift, Kelce's girlfriend. "There were some subtle jabs and jokes and references towards him, to see if we can get him to fully commit or not," Funches told Us Weekly. "We certainly were jabbing him."
Rumors circulated that Swift herself visited the set, but Funches declined to confirm or deny it. "We may or may not have heard whispers that she came by," he said. "I did not see her, but I did hear whispers."
Kelce's hosting skills have impressed the cast and crew. "He's funny and has the wits for it," said Funches. "He just kind of took them and gave us some back. He was really good."
On top of that, some people apparently tried to flirt with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. "Him shutting that down was really sweet and really nice to see. You can tell he's in it with her," Funches went on.
Leggero also praised Kelce's performance but noted that fellow guest star, comedian Nikki Glaser, who's a huge Swiftie, was noticeably nervous around him. "She was incredibly nervous just to be in the presence of him," Leggero said.
Kelce, who has been a fan of game shows for a long time, has been preparing for his new role. He and Swift were spotted in New York City over the weekend for a series of date nights before Kelce's hosting debut.
"Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?" premieres on Prime Video on Wednesday, October 16.
