AceShowbiz - Anne Hathaway has joined a group of celebrities who are supporting Kamala Harris. Ahead of the presidential election, the leading lady in "The Devil Wears Prada" voiced her support for the Vice President.
Recently, the 41-year-old Oscar-winning actress made an appearance at a fundraiser in New York. She attended the event with her son Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman, whom she shares with her actor husband Adam Shulman.
During the event, Anne stepped on the stage to give a speech. At one point, she told the packed audience, "And actually my son Jonathan is here tonight." She went on to wave one of her hands at her eldest child and said, "Hi, Johny!"
While still standing at the center of the stage, Anne declared, "Also in case you didn't know, I am voting for Kamala," prompting the crowd to cheer and scream out loud. One of them could be heard exclaiming, "Yes!" Smiling from ear-to-ear, the actress added, "Is anybody else here voting for Kamala?"
A video from the fundraiser was later uploaded via X, formerly known as Twitter. It prompted X users to share their thoughts on Anne endorsing Kamala for president. While some said that it was a "good choice," one user wrote, "I don't take political advice from famous people living in mansions."
Similarly, another chimed in, "Who. Cares? We are struggling out here!" A third stated, "Another over privileged, white woman, who lives in a gated, secured mansion, telling poor folk how to vote...lol...ok sure. I'm sure high gas and food prices are really taking a toll on her."
Previously, fellow famous figures have publicly voiced their support to Kamala. Among them was Taylor Swift, who took to Instagram in September to officially announce her endorsement of Kamala. Taylor emphasized that she conducted independent research and found Kamala to be a "steady-handed, gifted leader" who believes in "calm, not chaos."
Aside from them, actress Jessica Alba recently posted a video on Instagram endorsing Kamala in the 2024 presidential election. In the video, the founder of The Honest Company stood beside Kamala while she discussed the impact of small Latina-owned businesses.
