AceShowbiz - Heather Graham, known for her roles in "Austin Powers" and "The Hangover", has publicly discussed her decision to cut ties with her parents for the past 30 years. In a recent interview with People, the 52-year-old actress explained that she had a difficult childhood and that her parents' disapproval of her acting career led to the estrangement.
Graham recalled that as a teenager, she attended a discount clothing store with her mother, who selected her outfits, leaving her feeling like an outcast. At the age of 18, after the release of her breakout film "License to Drive," Graham moved out of her parents' home and pursued her dream of becoming a movie star.
However, Graham's father, an F.B.I. agent, strongly disapproved of her choice to enter the entertainment industry. He reportedly told her that Hollywood would claim her soul if she appeared in anything with sexual content. Graham noted that her parents were not receptive to therapy or discussing personal matters, leaving her unable to communicate her feelings.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Graham further elaborated on her estrangement. She explained that she had not spoken to her parents since she was 25. Graham stated that she was okay with her decision, despite not going into detail about the specific reasons behind the rift.
