AceShowbiz - Cheryl Hines has broken her silence following the death of her mother-in-law Ethel Kennedy, who passed away at 96 from a stroke. Hines, who is married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., took to social media to express her condolences.
"My mother in law, Ethel Kennedy, Bobby's mother, passed this morning," Hines wrote on her social media account. "It has been my great honor to have shared laughter and love with Ethel. Her charisma, wisdom and strength will live on with me in every memory of her."
Hines' post marks the first time she has publicly mentioned her husband since news of his alleged affair with New York Magazine journalist Olivia Nuzzi broke last month. The scandal has reportedly put a strain on their marriage, with Hines reportedly considering divorce.
Despite the marital turmoil, Hines joined Kennedy in mourning his mother. She recalled warm gatherings at Hyannis Port, where they shared dinners and listened to stories from Ethel Kennedy's extraordinary life.
"She always made me laugh," Hines wrote. "She was never too serious except when she needed to be. She dressed to nines with bare feet. She will be missed."
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has not yet commented on his mother's death. The last time Hines mentioned him on social media was in August, when she commended his efforts in the presidential race before he withdrew.
Meanwhile, Nuzzi has been placed on leave from New York Magazine after disclosing her relationship with Kennedy. Kennedy has denied the affair, but Page Six reported that sources claimed they had "incredible" FaceTime sex and exchanged "I love you" messages.
Amid the ongoing scandal, Hines' heartfelt tribute to her mother-in-law has drawn attention to the Kennedy family's resilience and the importance of finding solace in shared memories during difficult times.
