AceShowbiz - "The Masked Singer" season 12 premiere made history with host William Shatner leading the festivities. This season introduces Masked Ambassadors, alums who endorse and introduce the new singers.
For Group A, Nick Lachey (Piglet) introduced Buffalo; Jenifer Lewis (Miss Cleocatra) backed Woodpecker; DeMarcus Ware (Koala) mentored Leaf Sheep; Joel McHale represented Showbird; and Jewel (Queen of Hearts) endorsed Ship.
The first unmasking of the night brought a surprise when Buffalo turned out to be a trio.
After all the performances, Leaf Sheep was voted out by the panel and studio audience. Before revealing their identity, the panel guessed famous NFL stars like Tom Brady and Troy Aikman. However, it was Ken Jeong who correctly identified the singer as John Elway.
Elway, a legendary quarterback for the Denver Broncos, confessed that his participation was "out of my comfort zone" and that he was not expecting to make it far due to his lack of singing experience.
"The Masked Singer" airs Wednesdays at 8-9 P.M. ET/PT on FOX. Fans can tune in next week's Footloose night, which will feature Kevin Bacon and the contestants of Group A.
