AceShowbiz - Just days after announcing their indefinite hiatus, Jane's Addiction has released a new single titled "True Love". The band's press release emphasizes their recent reunion without mentioning their subsequent breakup.
"True Love" is the second single featuring the band's original lineup, which includes Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery. It debuted on streaming platforms on Wednesday, September 18.
This release comes shortly after the band announced the cancellation of their remaining tour dates. On Friday, Farrell punched Navarro onstage during a concert in Boston, prompting the band to take "some time away as a group."
In a statement, Farrell apologized for his behavior, stating that his "breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior." Subsequently, Navarro, Avery and Perkins released their own statement, expressing concern for Farrell's "mental health difficulties" and announcing the tour's cancellation.
Despite the band's current hiatus, "True Love" showcases their enduring musical collaboration. It evokes the band's signature dreamy ballad style, with lyrics that explore the euphoria and early stages of love.
"When I first felt true love, I was very young," Farrell sings over Navarro's chiming guitar. "I tried to describe it to my friends/ You're floating over something that's way over your head/ Wading in the waters of true love."
The release of "True Love" suggests that Jane's Addiction may still have music in the works despite their current hiatus. Fans eagerly await both the band's eventual return and the resolution of the issues that led to their recent struggles.
