AceShowbiz - George Clooney, known for his playful nature, has revealed some of the elaborate pranks he has orchestrated over the years. During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", Clooney admitted to using fake stationary purporting to be from Bill Clinton and Brad Pitt to fool his celebrity pals.
One of the most memorable pranks involved Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. Clooney confessed to sending a letter to Cruise, supposedly from Pitt, expressing interest in making a sequel to their 1994 vampire film "Interview with the Vampire". However, the twist was that Clooney wrote the letter as if Pitt wanted to play the role that Cruise originally portrayed.
"I sent it to Tom Cruise, saying they want to do ['Interview with the Vampire 2'], but this time Brad wants to play Lestat," Clooney recalled with a grin. Surprisingly, Cruise was reportedly willing to swap roles for a sequel, as revealed by Pitt during an earlier conversation with Clooney.
Clooney's pranks extended beyond the silver screen. He also sent a letter to Meryl Streep, supposedly from Pitt, offering help with her accent for a role in the film "Troy". The letter included a box of CDs with dialect coaching.
Clooney's pranks have become a hallmark of his relationships with his famous friends. He has previously confessed to using these methods to test their boundaries and keep them on their toes. However, he acknowledged that he often hints at his involvement to prevent the pranks from escalating too far.
Despite the potential for payback, Clooney's collaborators appreciate his sense of humor and often return the favor with their own pranks. In fact, director Jon Watts intentionally put Clooney through a pitch process for their film "Wolfs" before approaching Brad Pitt, fearing that Clooney had the ability to resort to more extreme tactics.
"Wolfs", starring Clooney and Pitt, is set to hit select theaters on September 20 and will be available on Apple TV+ starting September 27.
