AceShowbiz - Joan Vassos, the 61-year-old Maryland native, made her grand debut as the Golden Bachelorette, introducing herself to 24 handsome suitors. Among them was Mark Anderson, the father of "The Bachelor" season 28 winner Kelsey Anderson.
During the premiere night, Kelsey supported her father's journey, elevating their meet-cute. Joan was impressed by Mark's calm demeanor and his presence as a father figure.
The memorable entrances included Keith, who arrived in a station wagon, reminiscing Joan of her childhood vacations. After meeting the men, Joan had intimate conversations with some, forming early connections.
Joan awarded the First Impression Rose to Keith, a 62-year-old "girl dad." She found comfort and connection with him, despite not knowing him well.
Before the rose ceremony, the suitors received a compilation video of support from their loved ones, acknowledging the sacrifices they had made to participate in the journey. Joan emphasized the importance of this connection and how it brought comfort to the suitors.
As Joan distributed her first set of roses, the intensity of the moment became overwhelming. At one point, she stepped out of the room to compose herself, expressing her reluctance to send anyone home on the first night.
"I think this last connection before the journey really got going was really important for them," Joan said, recognizing the significance of the family support before the journey began.
Through the challenges and emotional decisions, Joan sought guidance from host Jesse Palmer, a former Bachelor, whose insights and support aided her decision-making.
"The Golden Bachelorette" airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8/7c.
