AceShowbiz - Cassie will be dragged into Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' federal case. After the embattled hip-hop mogul was arrested on Monday night, September 16, it has been revealed that his ex-girlfriend is a witness in his federal case.

Diddy's lawyer Marc Agnifilo has claimed that the 38-year-old singer will be among the women who will testify against the rapper, according to The Jasmine Brand. There is a possibility that she will take the stand during the case.

Nothing has been confirmed, but TMZ previously reported that Cassie was in contact with federal officers prior to the Bad Boy Records founder's arrest. Sources said in April that the singer had been working with the authorities for several weeks, presumably even before Diddy's homes were raided.

A source close to Cassie told PEOPLE that she feared for her life in the lead up to Diddy's arrest. "It was terrifying in a very real way," the source explained. "There have been so many people protecting Diddy for so long. It’s not an exaggeration to say her life was in danger through all this."

In the meantime, Diddy's defense team has seemingly prepared to tear down Cassie character. Agnifilo recently addressed the security video in which his client attacked his then-girlfriend at a hotel in 2016. The lawyer claimed that the singer instigated the physical altercation.

He accused the singer of striking Diddy in the head prior to running out into the hallway. "[It was] an issue that Mr. Combs had more than one girlfriend," he told reporters. "Victim-1 was looking through his phone and saw that - then hit him in the head with a cellphone, and took his clothing."

"These two people were in love," the lawyer claimed to the court. "Victim-1 ended up marrying the trainer that Mr. Combs got for her. They had been cheating on each other for years." Agnifilo concluded his allegations against Cassie by claiming that she looks upon her time with the mogul fondly. "Years later, she realized she had a good thing with Mr. Combs," he stated.

Diddy was arrested at a Manhattan hotel on late Monday, Tuesday 16. He was subsequently taken to the FBI Field Office in Manhattan. He was indicted on sex trafficking, racketeering and kidnapping charges. He pled not guilty during his court appearance on Tuesday morning.

He is currently being held without bail despite his defense filing a proposed bail package that included a $50 million bond, the passports of his family members and the equity of Diddy's mother Janice's Florida condo, along with a home detention provision coupled with GPS monitoring.
