AceShowbiz - Amazon Prime Video Australia's critically acclaimed comedy-murder mystery drama, "Deadloch", has begun production on its second season. The action has relocated from the cool climes of Tasmania to the sweltering heat and humidity of the Northern Territory, specifically Darwin and Garramilla.
In June, Amazon confirmed the series' renewal. The streamer has now released a first look production image and announced casting news for the six-episode season. Detectives Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami) and Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) embark on an investigation into the death of Eddie's former policing partner, Bushy. However, they soon uncover a larger mystery involving the murder of a local icon in a remote town.
Familiar faces returning for season 2 include Nina Oyama as Abby, the policewoman-turned-forensics specialist, and Alicia Gardiner as Dulcie's clingy but loving wife, Cath. Additionally, the cast welcomes an array of new faces, including Steve Bisley, Shari Sebbens, Genevieve Morris, Byron Coll, Nikki Britton, Anthony J. Sharpe, Blake Pavey, Damien Garvey, Ngali Shaw, Bev Killick, Ling Cooper-Tang, Ursula Yovich, Syd Brisbane, Ines English and Lennox Monaghan.
"Deadloch" creator and writer Jean Tong will make her acting debut in the upcoming season as a journalist who aids Eddie and Dulcie in their investigation.
The series, created, written and produced by Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney, has garnered critical acclaim and impressive ratings for Amazon's Australian originals team. The first season became a breakout hit on Prime Video, reaching the Top 10 TV Shows in over 165 countries and winning five AACTA Awards.
"We're thrilled to bring 'Deadloch' 's second season to life in the stunning landscapes of Garramilla/Darwin," said McLennan and McCartney. "Working with this exceptional cast and crew, including dogs and crocodiles, is an absolute dream."
"Deadloch" season 2 is a co-production between Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, Guesswork Television and OK Great Productions, with support from Screen Queensland and Screen Territory. Production will also take place in Brisbane, Queensland.
